1) ReefBall Coalition Projects Begin!
The first reefbuilding programs for divers and other interested ocean
lovers will start this Summer on several islands in the Caribbean.
The ReefBall Coalition projects offer reefbuilding and deployment
opportunities for small teams of volunteers who want to spend a weeks
vacation at an exotic destination. Days are spend learning to build
reefballs and then moving them out into the water for deployment for a
reef system. Training takes place on site. There is plenty of free time
for diving and enjoying the island. Since the projects
are educational in nature, participants learn about reef ecology and have
the opportunity for "hands on" monitoring activities They will also be
able to discuss the projects with locals who are learning about the value
of "reef tourism".
